City of Hayward Elections
- The City of Hayward holds its General Municipal Election in November of even-numbered years, effective November 2018.
- The Mayor is elected and serves a 4-year term.
- Council Members are elected at-large and serve 4-year terms. To qualify, a candidate must be a registered voter of the City of Hayward.
November 6, 2018 - General Election
The Nomintation Period opens at 8:00 a.m. on Monday, July 16, 2018 and closes at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, August 10, 2018. If nomination papers are not filed by the incumbent by the 5:00 p.m. deadline on August 10, 2018, the nomination period will be extended until Wednesday, August 15, 2018. Incumbents are not eligible to file during the extended period.
First day of early voting at the Registrar of Voters in Oakland and first day of mailing Vote by Mail Ballots is October 8, 2018.
The last day to register to vote is October 22, 2018 for the November 6, 2018 General Election.
The last day to request a Vote by Mail Ballot is October 30, 2018. Applications must be received by the Registrar of Voters office no later than 5:00 p.m.
Polls will be open from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Election Day - Tuesday, November 6, 2018.
- The Registrar of Voters shall prepare a certified statement of results and submit this to the governing body, no later than December 6, 2018.
